Pea Soup

10th January 2019

I could say mother natures been cooking,

but she’s obscured my view

I can barely see, what’s in front of me

never mind a metre or two

And the pea soup – its a moving

as it follows the warmth of the ground

its making pretty whirls and swirls

as it moves around

And its not easy when your commuting

from museum to back to home

as the fog falls on down, it makes you frown

as you might just be looking through foam!

Sounds

#sounds #acrostic

Sunday evening, is a whole lot quieter than Sunday morning

Outside, the rumble of traffic is down to a minimum

Unless it’s a plane or a train you want to catch

Navigating those roads should be a breeze

Double glazing muffles any noises, and the wildlife are

Sleeping in their beds soundly, keeping warm

Creating light out of darkness

A sign of new things to come

Now that advent is underway each

Decorated candle will be

Lit bringing light to the house and as

Each candle is lit, Christmas comes closer

winters calling,

in some ways, the mercury retreating was

notably a sign from the thermometer

travelling swiftly toward the bulb

even the food has changed from salads to

roasts and shepherds pie

Dim

Dim

In the dawn light of a winters morning

its very hard to see

why the important man with his

very important briefcase

should be stood at the platform

getting covered in snow

if he’d listened to the announcer –

a bus arrived two minutes ago

but he let it pass

and like an ass

he stands there in the snow

in the Dim light of the station

Will he catch his train….hmmm? No.

Cozy

Cozy

Salford, Friday 29th December 2017

Camped by a Christmas tree and warmly wrapped in a throw

out of the way of the wind and the snow

Zedding at moments in front of the TV

yet waiting for time that mum and dad call for tea.

Winters night

you could call it crisp

its definitely dark

stars in the sky night twinkle and spark

out in the distant carpet called space

each cluster of stars don’t seem out of place

and standing like statues,

they watch as snow falls

creating their flurries that land soft but tall

Mr frosts return

Salford, 11th December

They said the mercury was rising today

Well, someone didn’t inform Jack Frost and his winter imps

For as I write, sat perched in a chair by a radiator

They appear to have left pretty patterns

All over peoples car windows and roofs

Seems like he’s skipped across the skies too,

As there’s a definite blue streak across Salford skylines

autumn leaves (p) Brian F Kirkham 2017

The change in seasonal colour came quickly this year,

some might say the bright sparks at the weather office got caught out

summers hand seemed to draw into the autumn days

and while winter popped up in the chill of the western wind

the leaves stayed green for a week or two more

till one day the trees said they’d had enough

and the leaves 🍁 turned like traffic lights from green to red

taking on tones from amber to orange, from red to brown ,

toughening up to face the hardness of winter

as they dropped to the floor below

and the welcome to walkers travelling on this carpet ?

the crunch of leaves 🍁 saying hello 👋
