Cup-a-Soup

#fowc #instant

Instant gratification

noodles and vegetables

swimming in a flavoursome pool

tasty little number brought to life by the

application of just the right amount of hot water

now – don’t forget – stir it up or you’ll find

there’s lumps at the bottom of your cup (you dont want that)

Instant

Photo by Nadi Lindsay on Pexels.com

It’s just the thing on a winters morning

Noted for the quickness in its preparation

Some aficionados might complain its not “The real thing”

Though if you checked the ingredients

And looked – Milk, Sugar, Cocoa – its all there

Noses attracted by the Chocolatey waft

That travels through the house from the Kitchen

Simmering

Something sensational was coming from the Kitchen

in seconds the waft of chicken , ham and vegetables

made its way through the ground floor and

moseyed upstairs to tell my senses

everybody – grab your eating irons – its ready

rendezvousing with crusty bread and salt and pepper

in a combination you will

never forget – a total culinary triumph

got to warn you though – its just out of the pan…watch the bubbles

The sea played with the man on the beach

as he walked along the sand

blue turning to sky blue then white

to catch the sun worshipper and give him a fright

But after a while the man came up to the sea

in an attempt to dip his toes

he put his feet into the blue

and in an instant froze

for while on the sand, the air was warm

the water instead, was not

it was like a bowl of ice cubes

and he was rooted to the spot

the hermit crabs signalled to the oncoming sea

about the beachcombers feet

and then in an instant

the sea beat a retreat

Summats brewin

Late night on a Tuesday ,

Watching a comedy on the golden channel

While Russell Hobbs is whipping up a storm

For my late night cup of tea

The fruit tea looks on enviously,

No imitations tonight …. I’ll leave that to the comedians

Tea bag oozes through the milk till it gets that oh so ready colour

When two sugars take a dip in the golden pool

A slurp and a sip, before

My favourite chocolate biscuit, takes a dip.

Sensation

#wordpressprompt #feedyoursenses

Taking a biscuit for a paddle , Image by Inky

Early morning rumble

cars muffled by double glazing

dripping of water heading for the drain

saved by a silver – armored plugstop

fingers frolicking in warm soapy water

throwing it towards the face in play

towel comes to the rescue

and they all make their way

down to the kitchen

porcelain meets cocoa bean

and Milk or H2O

transporting our hero into another velvety dream

while waiting for his toast to go pop

Chips by the beach

Childhood reminiscences

held by a moment

in grease proof paper

positioned in a way – that

seagulls didn’t spot the hidden treasures

barmcakes by Blackpool prom ?

yearly occurance – on the days they’d be testing the lights

toasty hot – fresh out of the fryer

helpings of salt and vinegar a must – but

every sauce under the sun is available for a small silver coin

By the seafront wall

enjoying the taste of battered cod and chips

as the waves gently lap against the sand

coming in ? the sea enquires – sorry i say, i’ve just got

hot – Maybe tomorrow…..as a tram passes by

The Answer Squash

I

Sweltering heat on Mediterranean shores

quenching relief required

up in the trees lies a solution allied with

aqua cool and clear

sensational on a summers day

help yourself to a glass or two

II

Oranges, Lemons, Blackcurrants

just the job on a hot sunny day

something sweet and juicy to

cool off while out of the hot summer sun

sweet and juicy – and with ice

quite refreshing

III

Sports stars take a break in the halves

quenching their thirst and keeping

units of water up – to keep cool

as they run around the

sporting arena – football, tennis, or athletics, without it its

hell out there.

Hiding

#fffc

To some, it seemed normal

they spent thousands to come

to this tropical paradise

took a fortnight away,

then sat on the sun loungers, out in the sands

feeling the burn….sipping sunny cocktails

to others, they pondered

why you would do all of that for one week flat

and spend the next seven sun-filled days

searching for shade and shadow

Plunge

#fowc #plunge

In the warmth of a Roasting Grecian Sun

the cocky young adventurer

might have been forgiven by his elders

for trying to impress the maids sat by the beach

what he didn’t know

was the water that day was more arctic than athenian

and made his heart leap quicker than the girls
