Frosted

#Winter #Grass #frost #fowc

You could tell that winter was here

for each blade of grass

was sitting in the place it was rooted

unable to move – why ?

Tiny little ice crystals were holding them tight

only moving for the giant boot

coming across the field

Sounds of Winter

#ice #snow #winter

Early morning wake up call

the winds are bawling

“Jack frosts been calling”

Dancing with the frost fairies

all across the land

And underfoot, the fallen leaves

have hardened up and stood their ground

deciding not to be pushed around

defiantly cracking as you tread

a sign they’re sleeping – and not dead.

The crunch of frosted grass – like ice

is enough for some to think twice

for as you make your way to your house

creeping into warm like a church mouse

in a nest under tiles, their covered up thrice

A weekend writing prompt from https://Sammiesscribbles.wordpress.com

Poem or Prose in 28 Words – Okay!!!!

Polar bears are partying

under nights light show

the snow is twinkling

with various different colours

moving about on ice

like the mirrorball chasing

the disco floor beams

Sunset over Alykanas

I watched
with my feet still sat in wet sand
as the evening skies faded
like a fire in outer space
day turned slowly into night
and silver fish still circled
as a central point of
fire and ice
waited for the many moons
in the grecian sky to settle in their spots
like diamonds in the sky

Careful Now

Gingerly

Got to admit, that first layer of frost on the ground

In-stills me with an air of trepidation

Not exactly fear, but as you make your way from here to there

Going across the icy surfaces

Expect a slip or slide or two – especially by the

Roadside pavements where Jack frost refuses to budge

Little steps carefully taken are what’s required here, or

You’ll slip up on that iced up path

Risky

Risky

Really you took health and safety and chucked it out,

If you thought skidding across the frozen pond was a good idea

Swans, geese and gulls watched in amusement, as you

kept testing the thinness of the pond ice

You’ve been told, but won’t listen….till you go in

Flavorful

Bananasplit

Served up in a glass bowl

Wonderful fruit combines with frosty ice cream

Everyone smiling as the bananas are

Enveloped by the Ice cold tastes of strawberry and chocolate and cream

Together – as they melt and mingle – they make a heavenly delight

Graceful

graceful

Gliding across the ice like a top ballerina

rotating circles into blue ice with her blade

audiences applaud this brilliant ice dancer as she

circles around creating patterns on the ground

everyone appreciating each light move –

floating in the air as she spins

until the time comes for her to

land delicately on the ice…to receive her flowers
