Chocolate Cooking Drink Seasons Winter

Instant

Photo by Nadi Lindsay on Pexels.com

It’s just the thing on a winters morning

Noted for the quickness in its preparation

Some aficionados might complain its not “The real thing”

Though if you checked the ingredients

And looked – Milk, Sugar, Cocoa – its all there

Noses attracted by the Chocolatey waft

That travels through the house from the Kitchen

Combination

#Fowc #combination

some call it a recipe

others a mixture

several ingredients

coming together in a bowl

to form the perfect pudding

and it isn’t the flour , butter or eggs

that are the star of the show

or even the fruit thats gone in or over it

no – this is a team effort

served up on a serving spoon after the chicken dinner

key question – anyone for custard?

Summats brewin

Late night on a Tuesday ,

Watching a comedy on the golden channel

While Russell Hobbs is whipping up a storm

For my late night cup of tea

The fruit tea looks on enviously,

No imitations tonight …. I’ll leave that to the comedians

Tea bag oozes through the milk till it gets that oh so ready colour

When two sugars take a dip in the golden pool

A slurp and a sip, before

My favourite chocolate biscuit, takes a dip.

Peach Pudding

#Napowrimo #peach #fruit #poem #response

Peach, Sliced – by Inky

A response to Aubade: Some Peaches, After Storm by Carl Phillips you can read his poem Here

Perhaps the idea of

eating a bruised peach

after its fell headlong towards the ground

could be considered

hell on earth to a fruit connoisseur

Put in a pan

enveloped with

a mix of butter and sugar, and a spot of spice

combined with a light soft sponge ?

heavenly

Butter

#socs #food #butter

I

Born out of the milkchurn,

unsalted and golden

taking a morning trip onto

toast, crumpets and scones

even the odd fish or two

remarkable

II

Brought together with flour and sugar

up in the kitchen

there’s something sweet cooking,

the mix is in the oven, but

everyone knows the best part of the prep – licking the

round mixing spoon and the bowl

III

Building blocks for Bakers

using fat for a meat pie might be ok – but

the sweet stuff needs something for

the fillings to accompany it – providing an

envelope for the fruit to go in ,

roundly eaten off with custard or cream

Something to look forward to

#Baking #food #pie #apple #pudding #writeclub

Salford, 10th June 2020

The preparation seemed endless

the pie dish lined with the finest pastry

rolled out , sugared and buttered

now sat there waiting for the filling

The Smell of Bubbling Bramley apples

merging together with sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon

attracts the local feathered residents

looking longingly past the window glass

dropped into a sweetened parcel

and sealed with a spiced sugared lid

finally toasted together in the oven

served up after the fish and chips

and the perfect accompaniment for it

is spluttering away on a hob

as the smell of fresh vanilla custard

meets with warm apple pie – just the job!

Oranges

An Abstract piece of art of a glass bowl full of oranges

#Fruit #Oranges #Food

Another Acrostic on Oranges

On bright summer days in spain or Greece, you’ll find these

Ripening nicely on a coastal tree somewhere

As the fruit gets ready to drop – its colour goes

Navigating from Green to Orange…a sign the fruit is

Getting ready for eating

Each nice eaten on their own , with ice cream, or perhaps

Some sugar

Buttered Scones

5th February 2019

Scones

After its appearance on Luna’s poetry bar , I thought i’d best provide it with its own spot from its originators page

I don’t know how they came up with it

they may argue about its serving

but it must have been a marvel

when flour and butter and sugar

were brought together in a combo

by the milk on the doorstep

Now coming out at four o clock

for the ladies at afternoon tea

the debate heats up on jam and cream

but a bit of southwest butter on those sultanas

is fine for a Lancashire lad like me

Early Morning

Salford 23rd August 2018

Squeaky doors

are better clarion calls

than any alarm clock

on the market

Slumbered silence

broken by a cistern

attracts you to the noise

of the nearby main road

Luna’s departure

allows Ra to announce

“The morning is here!

it’s time to get up”

And motorised monsters

or kings of the road

make their way delivering boxes

either side of the tarmac

Solitary Swallow

converses with the neighbours

on a nearby roof –

tweets the news – no laptop required

The rumble of early morning traffic

cascading through the windows

is followed by the crack of an egg

falling into sizzling bacon fat

Kettle whistles through the concrete

up through the bedroom floor

your first cup of the day is ready

milk and two sugars ?

Sugarcube (2.1)

A poem by inky, from a prompt by

Www.serafinajayne.co.uk #sugar

shaped like a cube

formed from the beet

never tasted summat so sweet

taken from a root, out of ground it grew

only question to ask…do you take one lump or two?

as it falls in the cup into coffee or tea

aided with help by gravity
