Olive Green

#cyw #olivegreen #olive #green

Olives : Created from Bing Stockart by Inky.

Out in the summer sun

Living it up on Grecian shores

It’s like you were made, for the mezze

Vine Leaves and Feta Cheese

Even the tomatoes seem juicier when you’re around

Gem of a fruit of the vine

Roasted lamb seems to like you

Even served as a stuffing

Enjoyed more now – in jars and in pastes but

Never forget – how tasty you are off the vine

Views from a Window

I

Facing Swathe’s of Green

Little fruits play hide and seek

under leafy shade

II

Tomatoes Blushing

Star of the evening platter

by the battered cod

III

Empty vines begin

growth of some brand new red fruits

new fruits taking shape

Breakfast

Salford, 7th April 2020

#Food #Morning #Breakfast #Napowrimo

A prompt from Writerswrite.co.za – cheers to the promptuarium for providing the list of prompts

Best meal of the day, some people call it….

Ripe tasty bananas slapped between two pieces of buttered bread, or

Egg, boiled and salted, and served up with bread soldiers

A hearty breakfast – they say, is fit for a

King….Bacon, Eggs, sausage, tomatoes….

French toast is an alternative if you don’t like chasing your food

As are cereals….but don’t forget toast and

Strawberry jam….its a crowd pleaser

That’ll please any fussy eater (or cheese if they don’t like the sweet stuff)

#Discover Prompts #Food #Dish

6th April 2020

While i was busy sketching away

in the kitchen, dad was busy

zipping around with tomatoes and beef

and carrots and onion, creating a wonderful dish, based

round the pasta shells that were

dancing away in boiling water, and a little olive oil

Simple supper

Salford, 29th December 2018

Some would say it’s grand, but

If you looked at it from recent fare … its

Meagre, though oh so satisfying

Plain bit of steak…grilled and cut into three and

Lovingly coupled with some Tomatoes

Eggs and fried onion

Hidden chillis

Hiding in plain sight on your pizza

Innocent looking vegetable, scattered among the pepperoni

Divided by red onion and tomatoes, that ain’t no sweet pepper!

Devilish kick, and a rise in heat

Encapsulating the tongue

No wonder you’re sweating.

Take me there

Authentic

give me a taste of italy

wi fresh pasta, tomatoes and herbs

make that sauce sing

serve it up with

grated Parmesan and lemon

and juicy green olives

taking me to Napoli or Bologna

without the need of a plane ticket

Calzone

Salford 13th April 2018

Bella Italia , Lowry outlet mall, Salford Quays

Take a pizza base

Make it nice and thick

Cover it in the richest tomatoes

You can lay your hands on

Red bell peppers and juicy onions

add meats of your choosing

Or even more veg

Throw in a little pesto if you wish

But don’t forget the cheese

Fold it up like a Cornish pastie

And let it catch a Neapolitan tan

Before cracking open it’s golden crust as

treasures are uncovered and steam released

Releasing the tasty fillings that lie inside

Eggplant

#coloryourworld #cyw #eggplant

eggplant

Everybody cooking knows about the eggplant –

great addition to a stew – and staple of Mediterranean cooking

good baked in the oven , stewed or even in a soup

purple in colour – though some mistake it for black

liked by vegetarians for its meaty texture

a fruit of its plant, though its referred as a vegetable

nice to eat in a salad with a dressing

together with feta, olive oil, olives and tomatoes – a wonderful supper dish

Thursday Afternoon 4PM

#Weekendcoffeeshare

Sat in a coffee house of Italian Style

Giving my feet a rest for a while

having traversed the floor of a great gallery

my feet need a rest – and I start to agree

I order a late lunch – between two bread rolls

and sit down at table to rest up my soles

and whilst I am waiting – I read a good story

one that is funny and not at all gory

And as I wait, the steam it just rises

as barista puts in a cup of surprises

toffee flavour bits in my cocoa of day

a flavour that’s tasty in its own special way

But here comes my late lunch – tomatoes and meat

with cheese and salami – a real special treat

and as I tuck in, I’ve enjoyed my day

Sandwich brightening the weather, despite all the grey.
