Sparrows II

Scattered food lying on the tarmac, brings them here

Preening themselves in the fallen

Aqua that you and I call rain

Reactions to the feast, vary from

Roars of delight to sunflower seeds to

Overall disappointment …. small grains again ?

When the back door opens and the treasures

Spread across the ground, far and wide

Christmas pudding

Sat on the serving tray

Each little bit of you oozes festive smells,

Allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg

Salsa away with seasonal fruits, mingling

Over a drop of festive tipple

Note how the alcohol burns away in a wonderful display

And leaves a fruity taste to accompany the

Lovely sultanas, currants, candied peel and cherries

Toy soldier

Salford 19th December

Taking his position along the rest of the toys,

Our hero in red, keeps his eye on the rest of his chums

Year on year , he stands on guard

Sometimes, walking back and forth, when he ventures

Out of his box.

Liked by his pals in the house,

Days are brightened by his colourful persona

In winter, he likes walking round, as

Excited little fellows see what the jolly fellow in

Red has brought them

Sounds

#sounds #acrostic

Sunday evening, is a whole lot quieter than Sunday morning

Outside, the rumble of traffic is down to a minimum

Unless it’s a plane or a train you want to catch

Navigating those roads should be a breeze

Double glazing muffles any noises, and the wildlife are

Sleeping in their beds soundly, keeping warm

White noise

#noise

Can you hear that ?

Really high pitch,

Is there a mouse in the house ?

My ears are squealing from the squeaking

It’s coming from the next room, but (of course) there’s

Nobody there,

As the master thief has pinched the loot and

Led themselves out of the house via the skirting board.

Masterpiece ii

Masterpiece

Made from the finest beef

And vegetables fresh from the north of england

Something stupendous has been prepared

Transforming the ingredients into something that

Excites the tastebuds, as meat and potato dance

Round the pan with carrots and leeks

Pepper, salt and herbs

In a tango to

Excite the senses

Coming together on the plate…a dish

Everyone will enjoy

Poppy Hospital

IWM North, Manchester 17th November 2018

From time to Mother nature has been at the

Implanted ceramics by the canalside

X-tra ceramic poppies have had to be brought in

Even barriers – and broken ones have to be sent to the poppy hospital

Damage repaired with Slip and Glue (and more red paint)

Stars

1st November 2018

Somewhere out in the northern skies

There’s a little blue man

Aiming to communicate…he’s

Really far away, but

Sends you a signal from off in the distance

Squirrel

Signs that winter is on its way

Quite inquisitive fellow made his way across the garden fence

Under the fir trees and around the hyacinths

In search, of something

Round , red brown, and tasty to

Restock his larder for winter

Every now and then looking around, protecting his hide

Looking for morsels in every inch of the garden
