Magic

7th January 2019

#promptuarium

I’ve been doing the six word stories over Christmas…this piece is inspired by one

The tree may be gone for another year

and the decorations might be back in the box

but around and about the house

there’s enough pixie dust in the air

to bring a smile to a little child’s eyes

Nose in a book 2

#365writingprompts #reading

what makes me pick up a book

if this reads like a bit of a list, apologies

funny tales, interesting characters, a bit of a thread

tales I can return to….the jokes might be a bit old, but I can still get a laugh at them

evidence ?   Terry pratchetts troll sergeant…detritus,

<detritus> troll brains don’t work right in klatch….it’s the heat…if I went to klatch…I’d be really stoopid

<Vimes> detritus…

<detritus> yes sir ?

<Vimes> never go to klatch

Off on a walk

#promptuarium #prose #inkdropk

DSC_0460

Took myself on a walk – to remember

happy times, when a group of us

went a wondering to places far and wide

places planned, and journeys grand

remembering a mate, and wondering why

it was far too early to say goodbye

Thoughts of the long distance runner

Salford, 12th May 2017

Down the long stretches of Tarmac he goes

In darkness, fuelled by apples and bananas

Some call him crazy, but others they smile

Taking to the deserted road, to break down his time

All for the prize, of reaching that line

Nice shiny medal and Achievement awaits

Could records be broken this year ? A possibility

Expect a great smile as the target is reached

Forest

#Coloryourworld #Cyw #Forestgreen

Walking through the forest on a summers morning

the sun peeking through the trees to say hello

new hairdo’s for all – their old leaves forming a carpet below

they make a wonderful crunch as you step through them

and waking up to the sound of the leaves ?

a family of squirrels up high in the trees

what’s for breakfast ? say the kids

Hazel Nuts ? Yummy.

Solitude

Alykanas Beach
Alykanas Beach

Early morning sunrise 🌅

the fishing boats crews asleep in bed

no one here but me and the sea 🌊

stillness of air and silence

only broken by the smallest of waves

lapping on the shore

burying my toes into uncharted sand

and tiny pebbles washed by the sea

enjoying the silence and the slightest of breezes

South

South

Its a funny thing

but when you think

very carefully about it

everywhere away from

the polar bear’s house

is in the South

Hidden Intentions

Conceal

A piece of prose by the author, in response to the Prompt

What is that hiding behind your back ?

Something you do not want seen – hidden away

Who’s that for ?  What’ve you bought now?

Your face reveals nothing but a beaming smile

Clues abundant – around the house

Icing sugar and poster paint all over the kitchen

and hiding away in a colourful box

A special surprise – is under the stairs.

Chocolate

Chocolate by Brian F Kirkham

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “No Apologies.”

A Mug of something magical - normally my mug of hot cocoa from whittards!!!
A Mug of something magical – normally my mug of hot cocoa from Whittards!!!

Every day,

at the same minute

at the end of the day

when the house is empty,

I’ll heat up the milk

and watch as the cocoa

makes patterns in the vortex of the mug.

then i’ll sit in a comfy chair

Cup in hand

turn the volume up

and listen to stories

on Radio 4
