Hot Magenta

#CYW #HotMagenta

Salford Street sign – in Hot Magenta

Its not what you’d call a subtle colour

and it couldn’t be called pink or purple

a fiery marriage where red meets blue

but mother nature seems to like

using their off spring to bring a bit

of eye catching colour to the garden

look around you’ll see it every where else too

in signs, on walls and in windows

the future’s bright – the future’s …. Magenta

Green-Yellow

#CYW #Green-Yellow

There’s something about your shade

you could be a fresh lemon, or a zesty lime on the canvas

the artist just can’t decide,

for the fruit in the bowl can be your colour while it ripens up

turning yellow or green when its ready for eating

Green!

4th March 2020

The place where blue meets yellow

crafting colours seen in the most vibrant of gardens

lawns and evergreen trees line the garden path

being a canvas for other colours in front of the house

and yet you could paint the perfect picture

with the various shades of leaf, from tree or flower alike

A Dalek from doctor who on the side of the trafford side of the quays....sans color....in black and white

Gone is the colour from the photograph

Reds , blues and greens

Escaped from the page, and

Yet – the shades of black and white, make the image more definitive

Granny Smith’s Apple

#CYW #Grannysmithsapple

Salford, 29th February 2020

Grown for many years , from the fruit trees in the garden

really fresh and juicy apples got picked at springtime

and used in a variety of ways

now, sometimes – they were chopped up and used in a strudel…

next time, they’d be mushed up and served up with a sunday roast

your preference ? stuffed with sultanas and served with custard!

Golden

#CYW #Gold

There’s nothing better than a summer sky

warm coloured tones of

corn or wheat growing in the farmers field

or maybe the thought

of sinking your toes into warm golden sands

before dipping them in the sea

breakfast dinner or tea – wonderous eggs

dipped with bread soldiers

for an afternoon feast

Forest Green

#CYW #ForestGreen

For years you’ve seen this glorious colour

out in the wilds beyond your door

rolling hills and valleys

encapsulated in it by

swathes of green grass and

trees as far as the view will take it

Grown from a simple cutting

reaching up high to the nearest cloud

everyone enjoys walking among them

each looking about to see which animal enjoys the

nuts and berries grown from the branches

Subtle

#fowc #subtle

It had to be said, the fashionistas in your crowd

didn’t like you in that shirt

the colour was too deep

for you – they said

But that never stopped you

for the next morning you returned

wearing something new

or so they said

Same shirt, Brighter pants

Subtle changes made them glance

As the girls all cheers your latest style

and the boys all hung round for a while

Creating Rainbows

#Art #Colours #Rainbows

On a winters night

give me a bright white canvas

and seven colourful characters

let me bend them to my will without braking

and all with just a splash of rain

casting the sight of a colourful rainbow

across the page

Fern

#coloryourworld #CYW #Fern

An acrostic for the Fern Colour on Tourmalines Coloryourworld challenge

Flowing fronds of green

each one coming from a central point

reminding me of an octopus or squid –

not squelchy, but just as many arms!
