Maybe, you would call it purple – but there’s definitely

a shade or two of pink hiding in this colour

unless you were looking at it really close up –

very few would succeed to match it up

except of course the guys or girls at the wallpaper warehouse – who

like mixing up the reds blues and yellows

of course you spot its pinkish hues up by fellow plants

up in the garden

shades of pink popping up the yellows, purples and blues

Chasing Rainbows

A response to photo challenge #319 at mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com

Photo by Raine Nectar at Pixels.com

Appearance of seven bright colours

Breaking through the skies leads to a

Chase through the streets by some in a

Desperate (or plain daft) attempt to grab

Elven, pixie or Leprechaun treasure

Fate decrees though, by the time the hunters

Get to their multi-coloured target , the treasure will

Have been moved…to another end of another rainbow.

Maroon

#CYW #Maroon

Salford, 9th June 2020

Some say it’s the colour of conkers

after they’ve fallen out of shell

Some say it’s the colour of leather

it’s difficult to tell….

For while its not brown, its most definately not red

its more colour of the cows in the field that are fed

or their hides on the soles of the shoes in the street

covering ladies or gentlemen’s feet

Or perhaps the jacket, that strolls in to town

some shades of this colour – don’t suit a ball gown

the answer you see – to this definite riddle

the maroon colour – is somewhere in the middle

Painting of a manatee….by inky (original image c/o Bing)

Looking after the bed

Making sure he and his family are fed

Keeping the sea grass as short as can be

the underwater moo – moo – the manatee

Magenta II

The spot on the rainbow where red meets blue

you could call it “purple” – but it’s lighter than that

some would say its got a much vibrant tone

the girls love it – it’s got more to it than your average “pink”

so clothes , cars and anything else with this colour

sticks out for miles.

Lavender by Inky

Located in a part of the garden

a plant that’ll go rampant if you let it

very nice smell – its natural oil

each stem full of fragrance ready to be crushed

notably used in perfumes

deodorant ? not so much

everyone seems to like its colours though

ranging from blue to light purple

Green Apple

Grown out on a fine fruit tree

really sweet taste

expectations – nice in a pie or strudel

enveloped in a parcel of filo with raisins and sultanas or

newly pressed in a juice or in a cider

Banana

Salford 24th April 2020

#Napowrimo #Napowrimo.net #Banana #Fruit

An acrostic on one of my favourite fruits

These wonderful fruits – start off green

as they make their long journey to my fruit bowl

kept in cold storage and delivered by boat

exiting one set of islands for another and

navigating their way to the nearest store

The secret is to make sure, the fruit

ripens at the right time

as although its very sweet to eat – its

not appealing to young eyes if they’ve turned more than yellow

so into the frosty vans they travel

paying attention to the temperature

only when the time is right will they

reappear on the shop front

to be bought by the customer

excitable little minds asking

dad or mum to put them in the shopping basket

ending up tween two slices of wholemeal or

accompanied by some nice vanilla ice cream

there’s many ways a banana can be enjoyed

even cooked in a pan and served up with a

nicely made butterscotch sauce

Laser Lemon

#Coloryourworld #Cyw #Laserlemon

Whatever you do

be careful with that zingy coloured fruit

as you carve through the peel for its zest

it’ll come back at you as fast as lightning

blink – and you’ll miss it as it flies headlong toward your eye

it’s a flavour that’ll make your tongue sing

and bring a tang to any fruit pie

but watch out – its a fruit that’ll fight back!
