Up on a shelf i spotted a conversation taking place
my little lego man talking to one of my model bears
compared to some of my other old bears – he’s the smallest
but compared to the lego men – he’s huge 🙂
Fortunately, the lego man sits on a spot where he won’t go to pieces
Sat by a soldier in his guards post, where he’s watching the airfix planes 🙂

A bit rough round the edges
but he’s still as loveable as ever
now sat in the corner with the newer toys
a compendium of memories from days gone by
companions and confidante
when the darkness falls
or the ghosts come to town unexpectedly
best thing of all – he’ll always be there when you need him
Many of the tin toys seemed to want to be near the new guy
Arriving as he did out of the box, like a bolt from the blue
Gravitas – you might call it
Noted from day one –
Everyone wanted to be near him
Though in truth – they didn’t know why
In time, his popularity would go away , but for now they’re
Collected around him

For a while now he’s occupied that spot on the shelf
If you can’t spot him – he’s
Gracing us with his presence sitting by the clockwork guardsman
Up by the laptop brush – in the shape of a car
Ready to leap to action – when his spaceships been built
Except at the moment – he’s happy where he is
It’s not easy being me….
I took a fall from a window
and went into flight
aided by the northwest wind
I went to pieces, without assistance
My head and legs went different places
I thought – “that’s it!” – and went to bits
as i thought i’d played my aces
But from the kerb and the grass
i saw a hand pass
and head and body did rise
(to my upmost surprise!)
I looked up at the lad,
as i went good from bad
and we headed back home
a new place to roam
So i sit on the shelf, thankful for health
with other model toys – oh joy of joys
enjoying my place – in my safety of space
and spending time as i can – a new lego man.

He always wanted to travel
Lego man living on the shelf
his greatest descent – not a fall from grace
but sent into flight from a feather duster
till one day he flew
onto a book that made his dreams
into reality (of sorts) – as he landed and
walked into a patchwork of stars
Salford 19th December
Taking his position along the rest of the toys,
Our hero in red, keeps his eye on the rest of his chums
Year on year , he stands on guard
Sometimes, walking back and forth, when he ventures
Out of his box.
Liked by his pals in the house,
Days are brightened by his colourful persona
In winter, he likes walking round, as
Excited little fellows see what the jolly fellow in
Red has brought them

three words to describe an imagine puzzle
they arrive at the recipients house…fully completed
seems easy doesn’t it ? The simplest of objectives
dismantle and reconstruct
my advice….leave them in the cellophane
if you value a shred of your sanity
for once opened….it’ll take it bit by bit.

Salford 6th September
I can see them now
scattered around on the floor
those little bricks that stuck together
some square – some rectangles
some red, some yellow, some blue, some green
we made trees and houses
for the little lego people
that rode around in the cars
on the stubbily green grass outside the house
we’d just built
Knights of the realm could be toppled by this – but
Not my mum, or my aunties or Nanna
Its where i learned some very basic steps
To create a scarf for my teddy bear.
To be honest, the twists and turns of loops and purls were
Extremely difficult, but by the end of the month – i’d
Done one that was just the thing for a bear in the cold
