The Hero of our tale! (with accompanying support from Inky)

It’s not easy being me….

I took a fall from a window

and went into flight

aided by the northwest wind

I went to pieces, without assistance

My head and legs went different places

I thought – “that’s it!” – and went to bits

as i thought i’d played my aces

But from the kerb and the grass

i saw a hand pass

and head and body did rise

(to my upmost surprise!)

I looked up at the lad,

as i went good from bad

and we headed back home

a new place to roam

So i sit on the shelf, thankful for health

with other model toys – oh joy of joys

enjoying my place – in my safety of space

and spending time as i can – a new lego man.

Lego Man – Out in Space! – Image by Brian F Kirkham

He always wanted to travel

Lego man living on the shelf

his greatest descent – not a fall from grace

but sent into flight from a feather duster

till one day he flew

onto a book that made his dreams

into reality (of sorts) – as he landed and

walked into a patchwork of stars

Taking his position along the rest of the toys,

Our hero in red, keeps his eye on the rest of his chums

Year on year , he stands on guard

Sometimes, walking back and forth, when he ventures

Out of his box.

Liked by his pals in the house,

Days are brightened by his colourful persona

In winter, he likes walking round, as

Excited little fellows see what the jolly fellow in

Red has brought them

Puzzles

perplexing

confusing

trialling

three words to describe an imagine puzzle

they arrive at the recipients house…fully completed

seems easy doesn’t it ?   The simplest of objectives

dismantle and reconstruct

my advice….leave them in the cellophane

if you value a shred of your sanity

for once opened….it’ll take it bit by bit.

Toy Story

Salford 6th September

I can see them now

scattered around on the floor

those little bricks that stuck together

some square – some rectangles

some red, some yellow, some blue, some green

we made trees and houses

for the little lego people

that rode around in the cars

on the stubbily green grass outside the house

we’d just built

Knit

Knights of the realm could be toppled by this – but

Not my mum, or my aunties or Nanna

Its where i learned some very basic steps

To create a scarf for my teddy bear.

To be honest, the twists and turns of loops and purls were

Extremely difficult, but by the end of the month – i’d

Done one that was just the thing for a bear in the cold

Patchedupbear

Imperfection

A little dusty here or there

his coat could do with a mend

stuffing coming from a paw

this old bear needs a friend

See all the animals are off to the shops

apart from those that look like they’ve been dropped

now little bear, he wouldnt really mind

if the factory would be a little bit kind

A button for his jacket

and some thread for his paw

and a chance to be hugged

nothing less, nothing more

But just as factory is being shut down

a little lad is being shown round

over by bin – he sees the bear’s frown

and little bears luck is turned around

For in days to come, what fun there will be!

With new tops and buttons – and teddy bears teas…

He may be imperfect – said the boy as he roamed

but he’s my favorite bear – as they head off for home!

Mr Hornby’s mechanical wonder

engaging young minds into

creating something brilliant from

components from a magical box

and brought together with a handy little spanner, fitting

nicely in the hand of a young lad or lass – who likes making things

On reflection – there’s thousands of things you can make

An Afternoon of Close ups and scene changes today at BASICs photography workshop.

Fortunately, our Models weren’t that overly demanding!

The workshop took place in the centre Café – Food for thought .

We had some fun and games in a still life session with some old bears!  These bears had been collected over the years by our tutor – and formed a core part of a marvellous still life session.  The bears were backlit and positioned on their thinking spots before we took the shots.  I like the end results we got from this session.

Before taking each shot, we set up our “Stars” on their stage and adjusted lights and tripods accordingly – but being used to using my Sony Cybershot I mostly went for the point and shoot approach….I liked what came off the camera chip 🙂
