Sat in the tranquil scene
of the gardens off
Piccadilly
really – it hadn’t registered before
engaging in conversation in
the college refectory
the year we first met – like
yesterday

A response to Iscriblr’s poem for Day 8 of #Octpowrimo, you can find that Here
Splashed it all over ?
He knelt down to propose –
What’s that aroma ? Oh gawd! My Nose!
A poem from inky in response to https://patriciasplace.me/2019/09/04/in-other-words-aflame/
You’re calling it Heartburn
but somethings aflame
leftovers from valentines day
Still floating around like butterflies
around the Christmas mistletoe

Salford, 20th December
She walked though the Christmas market
Still wearing the Christmas cracker ring
Some lad from her past gave her
Sentimentality ? Perhaps, but then
Something told her, one day they’d meet again
Solitude, the vehicle that drove her to
See her sweetheart under the town hall clock,
Stars meeting up when eye met eye
Who am I, life’s Charlie Brown ?
For she catches my eye, and I’ve fallen down
Tongue tied with her beauty, so close at hand
Even though the words in the head I’d planned
a wonderful sight, with a beautiful mind
sometimes she’s harsh, but on the whole she is kind
Catching me out with those dark brown eyes
Occasional glances catch me by surprise
Heart rising by a beat when she’s so near
No more than friends, to me that is clear
Talking shop on the backyard, sharing an occasional smile
With the girl with the red hair, I want to stay awhile
I
I wanna be that fellow
That dances with the redhead
In a Viennese waltz
At the end of the night
Ii
I want to guide her
Around the floor
Her dainty feet skipping
Off the glitter ball lights
Iii
Eyes on the prize
As lights skip on the floor
And Rose Red dances delightfully
With her Prince Charming
Iv
Captivated by her delicate poise
Our movement just floating … hardly a noise
And watching us both….a bit of a crowd
Though it’s only the music that seems a bit loud
V
Fireworks ? Magic as we travel around floor
The crowd they applaud and yell out for more
But as spotlight leaves us, something they’ll miss
In the dark of a second, a surreptitious kiss
blood rushing quickly to the cheeks
like something out of a mills and boon novel
unrequited romances brought to life on
school hallways or stairs and
hailed to all and sundry from the response
fragrance
Salford 25th July 2017
For centuries, the makers of perfume have made
Romantic smells from the humble garden
Animated – and captured with oils wine and water
Girls grab their latest favourite – in an attempt to
Reach out – without a step – to the lad of their dreams
Attraction can be immediate – turning heads
Never think that it’s the scent alone that does it –
Cupid’s arrow is fickle at times – but
Every girl knows – to get his attention – it’s a start!

She caught my view, in the Cretan sunshine
Casting a watchful eye over the fruits of the island
As our gazes met briefly, we smiled at one-another
Reacting to a momentary attraction
Long haired red head, with eyes of green
Enchanting young lady – with chance to meet at
The next mornings breakfast
