Clock…acrostic

Clock

clock,

long time successor to the sundial

over the years I’ve watched you as guardian of time

closely keeping a cog tooth on each second as it passes by

keep on going, you’re doing a great job.

Clock

in response to the daily post Clock

Clock
by Brian F Kirkham
Salford, Monday 25th July 2016

Time moves
as the Earth goes round
the burning sun
moments pass by

Before the cog
a marker in ground
marked moments in time
shadows of the sun

Mechanical cogs turn
around in circles
turning the time
around and around

Seconds pass into Minutes
as Minutes turn into Hours
and as hours go by
The sun switches with the moon

The clocks second hand keeps moving
along with the earth
pushing the minute hand as
the hours move on

and events recorded by scholars

as the seconds pass on by

kept as a document of time

a thing called History.

Container of time

Locking tumblers and cogs

Over days months and years

Cover the movement of hands – hear them tick!

Keeping watch for Father Time as

Sand passes through his timer
