Some Goalie

The Animals from the Jungle

were playing the animals from the swamp

the game they played was football

and on the pitch they charged and stomped

The ball it went out freely

but to the alligators surprise

when they got up close to the goalmouth

the goalie started to rise

No matter how much they got the ball

and opponents they did stomp

the oppositions goalie –

was there to rise and Chomp

So by the end of the first half

and the sun had begun to fall

the score was ten nil to the kings team

even though they had less of the ball

      The picture gave me the prompt Sadje – It looked like he was sat in front of some football (soccer) nets! Glad you enjoyed the read.

    Well it’s certainly less of an even playing field for the swamp team when you’ve got the King of the Beasts playing on the other side! Love the beautifully paced rhythm of the poem.
