outside on a branch
up in the farmers barnyard
three friends celebrate
having survived Christmas day
cheers kept down for others
who ended up on dinner plates
for the festive feasts

beyond the indoor heating
garden feathers hop
leaving an imprint
on freshly laden snowflakes
follow their footprints
as frozen soil breaks
bugs and worms taken off to nest
for morning breakfast
and then behind twigs
our feathered friend awaits
mercury rising

In the morning mist
it appears through the green trees
abandoned, alone
occupied soon by
little explorers walking
amongst the green stuff
fun and games go on
as imagination
transforms leafy views
not swings and wood frames
but a mighty built castle
lived in by young uns

lobsters and langoustine’s not one for chip shop batter

its not cod or haddock or even salmon
sending the mussels and their cousins into a panic
he’s serving them up in their shells in white wine and butter

in the afternoon reflection by the canalside
great things are being dished out in this culinary spot
how to choose, I seek out my favourites
tapas from Spain, Italy or even greece
luscious recipes send aromatic notes
oi! Over here come give us a try
often I’ll have a wrap filled with delicious goodies but
keep moving around the globe, with noodles or wantons
in an attempt to keep the tastebuds happy
no need for meat in that samosa either
give me great spiced vegetables ..and don’t kill it with the chilli
Greek satisfaction and I’m not in the town
really great flavour from the chefs that are around
enjoyed with a drink from over the sea
and served with a salad, and maybe tzatziki
tastes on a plate, that you’ll agree are great
