Summer Arrival
means visiting places you
have not seen before
moments you capture
through the digital eyeball
and captured scribble
reminding you of
flying kites on golden sands
and ice cream moments
when the sun goes down
the music plays out loudly
while greek dancers dance

You see the target
force, lift and direction key
to getting the hole
the person
every kid learned
a lesson from at school
creating things from bits of paper and string
having fun and games with colour and number
engaging young minds with
reading writing and arithmetic
(that last line still makes no sense)
Crafted rugged hill side
and forests as far as the eye can see
nova scotia is a flight away
adventures among the valleys mean no thoughts of
due south, meaning a wonderful time
among the lakes and surrounding nature

It’s hard being a donkey
travelling the sands
sunshine can be hot
on a donkeys head – and small
kids can be heavy
it’s great going clop
down the stretch of sandy beach
hearing the giggles
happy little kids
travelling the soft shore sand
on your saddle
And waiting at the stop?
something zesty and juicy
to munch and cool off with

sat in the towns heart
people passing always look
up to check the time
passing vehicles
follow the diversions made
by new cycle lanes
monumental views
obtained by local wildlife
perched on mouldings
commotion occurs
at the sound of the clock bell
striking the hour

colour has a zing
to match the brilliant taste
of the sweet candy
tastes like the cola
found in bottles or the tin cans
but its not as wet
while guzzling the drink
provides instant bubbly hit
cola candy lasts longer
they say
the earths getting hotter
and soon you will be able
to cook an egg
off your paving stones
perhaps if
we collected those things
we know to reuse
digging up the resource
might not need to be done

transporting animals
to their picnic spots
and sometimes – things fall over
and need a fix or two
that’s when your special someone
comes to the rescue
picks you and your animals up
and puts the wheel back on your cart
all before its time to go in for your tea

ready and waiting for that
