Hear this – Hear this!
its really not a drill
scramble off to safety ?
taking care to head
out the right door
running will cause a pile up – so
you’ll get out safely if you take your time
from inkdrop – poetry, places and events

Created to be eaten
outside, above ground or under it
rich meat mingles with colourful vegetables
nice with a cup of tea at lunchtime
in older times, the parcel would be in two parts
set as meat and veg in one end, and fruit in the other
handy little meal, you can enjoy out in the sunshine

It might seem strange
seeing what this girl does
but it makes many smile
For with her colour
she wonders through the wheat field
turning the yellow green
Confused black Ravens
fly overhead, and pass on by
in search of ripe wheat
And only the mice know
as they pick out stalks of wheat
to build up their nests
by time of return
the wheat field has been harvest
leaving birds puzzled

Funny thing
Up there in the skies of blue
Lots of people’s information is
Lounging around, and floating about
To access, you need a computer to
open your bit of the cloud
Thinking about it though – does
hard rain or a sharp shower lead to a data loss
everybody’s got their bit up there
Before you know it, those clouds full will
rain down on everybody –
it’s no wonder they’re selling data sticks and hard drives to
Make sure you have a copy of your files

Summer – the start – for
a particular jolly band – where up
north fun and games
they have planned
and they say – it’s going to be grand
Clues to their work – not always seen
landing as they do, among forests of green
a place for the presents you’ll find
under your tree , and a
special surprise for everyone’s tea

Three books that made an impact on me
Scouting for Boys

The Original Book from Lord Baden Powell from 1908 – joined the scouts back the early 80s and never looked back
Swallows and Amazons

Following on from the scouting theme, I read this book as a young teenager, telling the tale of two sets of children out in the Cumbrian lakes.
I went out sailing on the clear blue waters of the Irish sea back in 1996, and i’m sure this book gave me the impetus to go exploring
Asterix the Gaul

When i was old enough, i was given a set of tickets for use in my local library. and one of the first books i read was from the Asterix set of books
This noble gaul took me on a trip around the roman dominated world, without having to leave my home
and i’m sure one of these books influenced me on my favourite Cuppa – TEA!
