    sat on the street where

    i go to church, lies a place

    of cooking wonder

    Tortilla with toppings

    and prawns from the sea

    or roasted pork meatballs, done by degree

    anchovies served up with familiar tang

    or padron peppers with a heat that sang

    also on the plate some sweet honey treats

    alongside some cheeses and tasty cured meats

    and fish on the menu? not seen in canal

    with squid or maybe octopus its hardly banal

    and pudding served up – creme caramel

    and chocolate mousse and sorbet as well

    Doing a marvellous job

    out in the cities gardens

    locking laundry fast in position as they’re

    loaded onto the washing line

    it also has another task

    engaging the local feathered friends and

    stopping them raiding the fruit patch

    and Serving up Spanish flavours

    while customers enjoy

    a culinary journey, without the airfare

    and a change from your average fish and chips

    Tall tree reaches out

    to it’s brightly coloured friend

    out in the distance

    his wish is simple

    a return of his green coat

    covering branches

    and perhaps return

    of some feathered friends

    welcome company

    till their arrival

    he’ll pass the time – nurturing

    the hanging seed pods

    Born from a bean

    in a far away place

    taken with water and

    teaspoon of sugar to taste

    exception ? addition of milk to the cup

    reactions to the omission could make you throw up

    Like coffee, tea is a particular brew

    every leaf in its bag, ready to stew

    adding flavour and colour to the water clear

    volleying the remains to a rubbish bin near

    each brew has its colour – and particular taste

    so you have to be watching – so theres no waste

    Warm summer mornings

    were a bit of a culture shock

    for the plants in soil

    The Birds in the trees

    decided to send a note

    to the people indoors

    Watermelon cloud

    reminding owner to use

    water can on plants

    Happy flowers sing

    as the cool drops of water

    hit their petals

    where did all the boats go ?

    they’re nowhere to be seen

    are they hiding on the waters edge

    among the trees of green

    Moonlight skips on the waters edge

    with the sailing boats away

    fire flies having a whale of a time

    as with the glow worms on lily pads they play

    and in the distance a far off distant hum

    as the birds have a night time treat

    popping their heads into floating flowers

    for tasty nectar to eat

    something sweet come out of the freezer

    often served up after a summer lunch

    round cold pudding composed of

    berries, lemon or mint

    enjoyed on a hot day with a

    tea coffee or even cocoa.
