  • Tapas II

    Crafted expertly by the chef

    happily served up with

olive oil and bread, together with

ripened tomatoes in a spanish dressing

its colours sing on the plate and

zingy, from the paprika ? it definately is

only, it’s not the only sausage on the platter

pork or chicken – straight off the grill

infused in a sauce of tomatoes and peppers

quite a sensation when you get your teeth in

usual chilli heat ? Not off the chart

    and it’s quite an experience

navigating the flavours of the spices

touching base with the tomatoes and onions

  • Strawberry Sundae

    #food #dessert #pudding #strawberry

    Stuffed to the brim

with strawberry ice cream and whole fruit

enjoyed by all the little ones

especially when they get an extra

    tasty scoop of ice cream

down to the bottom of the

empty glass the treats they fall

sponge and scoops of ice cream

    supporting the strawberries

    enveloped in cream and sauce

rolling about as the fruit and sponge

    tumble around in the glass

    funny little feathered fellow

from a far off foreign sky

found the plants in the family garden

fulfilling enough, he’d spend some time

    foraging this foriegn land and

filling his tum with tasty treats

and dance and converse with the local senoritas

on their spots of green, red blue and yellow

    Call it foolhardy

    crossing to the other side

    of this fast waterfall

    it may look lovely

    but take waterproofs. if

    you want to stay dry

    as the drops tumble

    cascade and fall quickly down

    to the waterpool

  • Something Different

    #1to3_Tsc #themeadow #Salford #Photography

In a change to my usual poetry stuff. i’ve decided to play around with

an image as part of xingfumama’s photography challenge

The photo was taken with my Sony Xperia camera and put through

    Smart photo editor for editing

The view ? Area of Salford’s Peel Park, known as the Meadow

as Peel Park was the home of the LS Lowry Collection for a while

i’ve decided to put this months challenge in its own gallery!

    hope you enjoy it

There’s a reason for its bright colours

nothing to do with the local football team –

its sending out a morning message

to every boat out in the blue

    whether fishing, passenger or naval

    and captains novice or veteran

are wary of the message it brings

you’re too close to the shoreline

and will be stuck fast in the mud below

so head for the harbour – and be in the know

  • Vacation

    #Greek #Islands #Beach

Give me a spot on the beach

    in a fair Grecian breeze

to take the edge off the warm sun

    Let me watch the waters

    as fish arrive to greet

    another colossus in their place

    And watch as they

    carefully uncover something

    fallen in the sea

    And what is that noise

beyond the sound of the seabirds

    behind the greek palms?

    the sound of music

playing from up the white sands

    breakfast is now served

The image below is from Ryan Grewell on Unsplash.

    summer days toasty

for a furry friend like me

    something cold needed

    into the water

i go to cool down , with fish

    swimming around me

    and with fur all wet

the passing wind over my fur

    is ideal cooling

  • Thinking about the shore

    #birds #seagull #city #salford #fish #birdfood

    He’s taking five

before heading off south or west

    off to see

    his chums by the sea

occasionally – he’ll make his way

    onto lawns of green

    and treats he’s seen

before heading back onto his spot

    the place where he’ll plot

    a route to the coast

    that’s teaming with fish

the place he likes the most

  • on the operating table

    #Dailyprompt

    #have i ever had surgery ?

I’ve had a few of these.

i was three or four when i first had one

(keep on following – it’ll soon make sense)

a tiny little tube draining fluid from my head to my heart

of course – i was out of it the whole time

i managed quite well – despite the knock on effects

co-ordination needed help, as did the balance

and the addition of cerebral palsy to the mix led to physios and splints

while the Ankylosing spondylitis was a little thing noted at the end

i was having a whale of a time – till the concussion

and another trip through the CT Scanner

trip to the theatre – to change the plumbing

pressures observed and new plumbing from head to tum

obvious knock on effects – led to a rejig of the way i do things

didn’t stop me getting my HND Though.
