as instead of their musical heroes
a guy in a bright yellow suit
and spotted bow tie
stood in front of ten thousand people
telling playground jokes
the clock moved forward
to a queue outside the ground
where a choice of ticket or cash
were offered to those
who didn’t get the gag

need to go fishing ?
not when they bring food to you
direct to your door
swooping over heads
of the delivery driver
brings treasure galore
sweet tasty berries
raspberry strawberry grape
and blackcurrants fresh
and the tastiest
of all parcels ? breaded cod
wrapped in brown paper

Things of craftsmanship
inside the jewellers cupboard
mum dad and grandma and grandma
enjoy the action of winding them up twice a day but
people of a younger persuasion have other
ideas, preferring to refer to
enigmatic wall clocks in the style they like or
computerised gizmos with the digital numbers
each to their own but some should remember
some clocks don’t need a battery

because of intermittant rain
lashings of the cool wet stuff hit his lenses
under those conditions
remedy was to sit it out
rest a little, and enjoy a cuppa
even if getting to the resting place was a bit of a challenge
downpours obscured the view to the cafe’s path

Really surprising, seeing this bright feathered friend
Out in the summer sun , enjoying the
Breeze of a warm day
I would have expected him arriving around
November time – with christmas being nearby
Seems to be enjoying himself as he
Goes from fence to fence
And skips over the lawn
Rattling his beak till a worm
Decides to appear
Everyone watching, enjoys it as he flies about
Note the cat though, being observed by the dog in his kennel.

A touch more yellow in his
Feathery profile
From a distance though
I really see and
Notice your
Confusion –
Hope you’ve got your binoculars – youll see the difference
not every day
you see a furry creature
prowling around
when the roads are clear
this wonder will be out hunting
dockside and roadside
a favourite catch
is a vole or perhaps mole
or summat in a tin
unemptied dustbins
provide an ample dinner
on sporting days
and trees and bushes
are wonderful sources for
after dinner puds

The Sun Shines Brightly
but little one is a bit wary
to dip toes in cold
But what’s floating
round by the waters edge
colourful water toys
I wanna play now
so on goes the special suit
letting me play ball
in the air it goes
making little splashes as
ball lands in the water

Doesn’t matter where you are
up and down the land – this stuff
sticks around, indoor or out
till you grab a sweeping brush or cleaning cloth
you’ll see it on floors surfaces and windows
#Socs #bottle #drink
by the bar they sit with their fancy tops
over in a special spot to keep them cool
tricky thing is – those tops take skill to open
that’s why the waitress brings it over
lifting the crimped metal top with a special tool
expect the bubbles rising when its released
Something cold and sweet
offered up to
round off a tasty lunch
berries usually, but this one is
expecially citric – with zesty sweet lemon
totally refreshing, and a great end to the meal
