on a journey to complete your view
next workday – your mind will be refreshed

in his favourite green spot
and he is laughing
for while he would like
to scamper after rodents
what’s there ? catnip mouse
of course he will leap
into action grabbing his toy
heading for the lawn
Perhaps you should have waited
for the milk to settle
before adding the sugar cubes
for as they descended
into the china cup
the milk in the middle
went into a frenzy
leaving its mark
on the kitchen sideboard

before its invention – people were relying on
candlelight and gaslamps for illumination

birds on the branches

summer mornings
were marvellous with sunrays
beating down
the lines on the map
warned everybody watching
it would soon finish
arrival of autumn
saw trees bend by western winds
and leaves change colour
splashing in the sea
swapped for paired rubber wellies
and muddy puddles
and sand castle art
switched for colourful prints
of falling dark leaves

why they called this fishing game
the name they did
till one day i saw a master of the craft
moved his rod to throw out a line
and then i understood

looking out of a terminal window
watching the raindrops hitting the glass
drops in a race towards the iron drain
while those hanging round watched them pass
your carriage to the place thats new
sat at the boarding gate with its sign of blue
but the captain’s decided the weather is fowl
so delay to the take off makes some fellows howl
and instead of tequilas and long island ice teas
you’re eating packed sarnies and tea from tetley
