  • Pigging Out

    #mfffc #thanksgiving

    It was quite a spread

    that Grandpa and Grandma

    put out for Thanksgiving dinner

    but you could forget

    the grand smorgasbord of vegetables

    laid out on the table

our little lad only had eyes

    on the golden bird plonked

squarely by the side of his plate

alas, dreams of eating it all

    dashed by dear old pappa

who’s job it was to carve it

  • there’s a nip in the morning air

and while rainbows greet you in the morning sky

the leaves amass by the paving stones

the indoor thermometer on the kitchen wall

    has its contents in retreat

while jack frost pulls out his palette and brush

making pretty patterns on everything he touches

A response to Christina Kemp’s creative challenge – you’ll find it HERE

    In a change of heart

    from the cottage gardener

    a friendly face greets

    feathered visitors to

    his patch of green

    and directing them all

to a new spot – away from the veg patch

    and home to tasty treats

  • taste of spain

    #food #spanish #pork #tomato #paprIka

    bruschetta covered in

    really tasty tomatoes

underneath a marinated piece of pork

    notes of spicy paprika and

choice vegetables with paprika laced sauce

heaven? It sure tastes like it

  • Finding my way round the park

    #ccc060 #direction #signposts

    Large amounts of green

    need pointers for visitors

    so they don’t get lost

    shiny signs pointing

    up and down various hills

to new places to go to

    play a game downhill

or have a bun at the top

    enjoying the walk

  • Taking a break

    #mfffc

    Its been a hard week

    for this noble little bird

    as she travelled from

    hilltop to hilltop, sometimes

    stopping at a pond

    for refreshment and a break

    over night time and day

    destination reached, now perched

    on a high spot, where

    she is resting her feathers

  • bubbles rising

    #socs #pop

    They waited for time

the time they would travel up

    into the sky above

    over their round heads

    sat a crimped metal cover

    keeping them enclosed

    so they sat in there

    floating in their glass capsule

    waiting for freedom

    and then in moments

    the bottles clinked together

    metal cover went

    rising like fireworks

to the top of the bottle

and making a noise – POP!

    The life of a spider

    can be hazardous

    it’s bad enough

    looking out for predators

    but even setting up home

    can be a dangerous task

    so you drop your delicate

    strands of silk

    over the spikea and thorns

hoping that they don’t break apart

    leaving you forlorn

  • Two Minutes

    A short spell of time

    out of the natural day

    to recall those fallen

  • Escap-Peas

    #food #vegetables

    you would think

    these green things

on the corner of the plate

would have had enough of the kitchen torture

after being turned in a rolling boil

    and hoping tummies are full

    before the trident spears them

but watch them as they bounce off the chops

follow the bends of the sausages

    landing on the porcelain plate

    or hiding for a moment

behind the shelter of a mahogany tower

while the rest of the dinners

    devoured whole
