he’ll find something bright and shiny
to adorn his nest

a number of these pastel birds
are deep in debate
what marvels await
from the park keeper and crew
when their van arrives
Mixed Seed and flavoured fat
usual spoils of the day – but wait
something fishy floats
Tiny shrimp travel
round lilypad and flowers
treat for the pink birds

Perhaps it wasn’t a great idea
to be messing with the hay bales
you see as you were chasing
your new love over and around them
the bales were beginning to loosen
and the straw began to shift
and the movement you were making
started them to lift
so imagine seeing the farm hand
returning to the barn
and seeing you and your loved one
tied up like bits of yarn
lovers entwined ? oh what folly
as you looked like a pair of corn dollies

Spring has finally Sprung
people spotting the buds on the acer tree
rising up from its winter sleep
intaking the spring water and sunshine
note its green leaves
getting ready to burst into colour

it was apt the flowers should
end up there

Sharks circle our friend
the one of different shades
ignoring warnings
the colours attract
this school of sharks – taste
thought before peril
busy thinking of lunch
instead of dangers nipping
our bright coloured chum
a nose wonders in
there is bright light – and some sparks
surprise – for the shark
and wails of surprise
make others swim for cover
if another shows

Sticky stuff is so friendly

clinging on for its worth
