What book first inspired you to travel

so, what book inspired me to go travelling?

There’s been many, from David Attenbourghs Life on earth to Michael Palins Round the world Travelogs – Round the world in 80 days, Pole to Pole, and Full Circle

they gave me the spark to do my own exploring – from Scotland to the Lake District and the Peak District (Derbyshire) to Lands End (Cornwall)

But there’s one book that gave me the oomph to head out away from land

swallows and amazons by Arthur Ransome.

After reading this book – I took a dip (not literally) travelling round the Irish Sea as part of the crew on an ocean ketch – with similar minded individuals. 293 Nautical Miles visiting the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland before heading home.

Other Destinations in the Spanish Islands and Greek Islands also took place, but those were more relaxing under the sun, swapping ships wheel for sun bed.
