i fuel the engine

a response to the john cooper clarke poem – i travel in biscuits

Plate of custard cream biscuits on a checkered cloth with tea and milk
A plate of custard cream biscuits served alongside a cup of tea and a jug of milk

As moon descends

towards the horizon

and the sun shows its face

i create something

you’ll eat before lunch

tasty squares filled

with the yummiest things

and holding firm from the heat

the kettle will bring

sweetness with a bit of a bite

small somethings to see through to

dinnertime at night
