Tale of a Boggart

#Napowrimo #Legend #Northern #England

I don’t know where he came from

but he just appeared one day

out on the fields of Boggart Hole Clough

while the family was out at play

He followed at a distance

and shouted he just wanted some fun

while he chased the ducks and geese about

he’d only just begun

For we knew he was there in the car boot

with the toolbox he tinkered away

making the car make some weird noises

while on the road we were making our way

And we knew he was making himself welcome

as picnic basket and rug went astray

but that wasn’t the only things to wonder

as we got home that day

He wondered around the kitchen

and left fingers in the butter and cheese

making foodstuffs that were safe and clean

smelly with a covering of green

The Chicken for tea went a wondering

as did sisters dolls and our toys

and mum and dad’s perfumes

they were most annoyed

So imagine, finding our Anti-hero

after doing all that, in our shed

enjoying an impromptu supper

with the teddies and dolls before bed

Glad you enjoyed the read. There’s a similar poem of a monster under the bed on here too!
