“There were no birds to fly” – The walrus and the carpenter

Last night there was a chattering,

Last night there was a feast

as someone in the neighbourhood

opened box – and bird seed released

and the birds o they did party

and feathers flapped and flew

as they chowed down on the birdseed

and enjoyed a bit of a do

so it seemed quite strange this morning

as the curtains they did part

for the birds had flitted from last nights feast

and the birdseed was spread apart

No birds sitting on the housetops,

perhaps they went off on a fly

to get rid of last night’s excesses

and give city park living a try

But where did all the birds go ?

it’s a puzzle and anyone’s guess

There’s only a man and his cart outside

with a broom to sweep up the mess
