Sat, on the front mat is Fred
for a cousin of the king of the jungle
he’s a bit of a mouseling
doesn’t like the sight of grey clouds
or even the sound of precipitation
the crack of thunder – makes him dive for the quilt
though behind the safety of the windowpane
he’ll roar at the lightning
Silly old feline – go enjoy your pilchards
he’s run away from the lightnings reply
and his under his blanket – quivering
