The Monster who lived under my bed

#Napowrimo #bed #childhood #bears

When i was little (about four or five)

a little furry monster, lived on my drive

he’d be upto mischief with others in the day

but hid in a dark spot when the moon came to play

and when i was tucked up and fallen asleep

onto my mattress he’d up and leap

tickling my feet – and squeezing my toes

blowing cold air on my ears and my nose

Now the toys in the playroom – didn’t like how he played

and the animals and toys yelled as one – “GO AWAY”

till one day the bears caught him as one

and asked our monster why he thought it was fun

It turned out – he was lonely – and wanted to join in

but was frightened of my dad – throwing him in the bin

so after a dust and a bit of a clean

the toys played hide and seek – and the monster was keen

And in morning you’d find him – with the others about

no fear of the bin – there was no doubt

though sometimes after picnics – when he was well fed

you would find our furry monster – under the bed
