Vanished

A few days ago

they were going about their business

sailing through the blue sky

and dropping on any morsel

you could find

Bird feeders lined with Bacon fat

would find nuts and berries galore

and Magpies, Crows and Swallows

would feast like kings or queens

Occassional Snow Flurries

Tempted the Feathered friends

To head for some place warmer

escaping arctic winds

or the nearest evergreen – to huddle

But as Santa makes final manoeuvres

the chill wind seems too much

even for the hardiest of birds

where’ve they gone? Nobody Knows.
