The Inkwell

from inkdrop – poetry, places and events

Mother Nature shook her head

as the four winds squabbled over the flowers below

the last of the Summer’s apples had fallen – and

the north and the south wanted to play ball with them

the west and the east wanted to stack them up

in a spot by the local scarecrow

caught up in all this – the poor old conker trees

who bent and swayed as the winds traded blows

after the bickering – they looked down below

and the conkers on the floor had started to show

so, the four winds calmed down – and played nice for a while

and Mother Nature looked on – and began to smile
