Sounding Like Granny

A reflection on your elders by inky

Because mum and dad were working

i headed off to grampa’s for afternoon tea

granny put on a really nice table

and the best of it all it were free

enter two young uncles from upstairs

who would grumble with grampa on the news

while tucking into Bacon and Black pudding

and told to wait till they were in grampas shoes

time passes and both uncles married –

and one uncles t’other side of the world

with occasional updates on life there

and facts on money unfurled

Odd thing – they’d round up at mothers

and ask to stay round for a while

while griping like grampa did back in the day

if they heard themselves they’d run a mile
