He looks after the land

He might have one field, he might have five

He might even have twenty, but

He looks after it well

Keeping the fields well watered

Keeping the crows off the crops

Keeping an eye on the height of the wheat

so its ready to head to the mill and the shops

It’s not always sunshine and roses

weather’s hard , wind is frosty and airs cold

but the farmer and his team wouldnt trade it at all

for the family has been doing this from days old
