the highwayman hid his ill gotten gains

in a shallow hole covered in bracken and thorn

where the thought no one would find it.

the highwayman was caught

and hung on a tree

his secret however … remained free

till one day after many years past

the highwaymans secret was uncovered at last

three workmen we’re digging laying pipes for gas

pearls diamonds and rubies uncovered by time

evidence of an old Edwardian crime

and while they cheer , and are running a muck

The ghost of the highwayman is cursing his luck
