My “little” Acer tree, in the back garden of the house
beginning another set of flowers to signal Spring
We bought it from a garden centre in the pennines , quite a few years ago now, and planted it alongside a couple of dwarf conifers and perennials to give the back of the house a bit of colour!
It was caught out by a really hard frost and snowfall in March, when it should have flowered then. The mercury in the thermometer refused to budge, so it slept on till the Easter Holiday, and while i celebrated my birthday – one or two of the flowering buds popped out to say “Hello!”. Soon it’ll be covered in lovely pink and white flowers, and (Northwest English Weather permitting) they’ll be there to brighten up the back garden all the way through summer and early autumn – when it’ll lose its foliage and it’ll prepare itself for the following spring.
