(Zebra) Crossing

Animals, Fun, Poetry, Schooldays

Salford, 4th January 2017

in response to the prompt Crossing

Another day walking down Salford’s streets

networks of transport – getting round’s a treat

but something’s made me smile this new year

creating a grin from to ear to ear

Clopping across the tarmacadam covered road

making his way from his towerblock abode

A noble striped horse – on his way to the shops

off to get his tea he pops

Apples and Grains the order of the day

for the zebra and his family – at home at play

a familiar sight for the locals about

they smile and they wave – they don’t shout

Mr Zebra works all day

whilst Mrs Zebra looks after the kids at play

and kiddie zebras go to school in th’week

playing with friends playing hide and seek

To visitors seeing them – its a surprise

and some of them seeing zebra on road – cries

“Stop fussing!” say locals – “No need for your bossing…”

“Haven’t you ever seen a Zebra Crossing ?”
