Sidewalk

an English Lancastrian take on the sidewalk prompt

They built new posh buildings
on the old council estate
A Health centre and Hotel,
They say it looks great!

They built them on the footprint
of an old council school
and built new school on terrace
They say it looks cool!

But take a look around,
and you wont have to guess
where the normal folk live
they’ve left it a mess.

As the brickies laid walls,
they didn’t seem to crack,
the pavements round buildings,
they hadn’t the knack

So wi L.E.D Lighting now falling at Night,
the Cracks in the pavement, don’t half look a sight
but look out, dear mr builder, and expect a call
when a little kid or old un in cracks, they do fall
