Butterfly

by Brian F Kirkham

Born from a tiny little egg

the caterpillar emerges

eating every leaf of green

it moves each every single leg

as it eats and growth it surges

till one day it hides away – to return with wings

it hides away unseen

and then the moment it breaks out – and its colour sings
