bad news ? Something to hide ? Keep it

    underground say the advisors

reality is worse than any expectation, for

you will answer for it when others go digging

  • Surprise

    The birds and plants jumped

as white stuff fell on the floor

    and made them all cold

    Everyone, careful

what you say in the cornfield

    for the corn has ears

  • Ghost Tram

    In response to https://estherchilton.co.uk/2025/03/26/writing-prompts-58/

I’m on my way to Manchester

    I’m going by the tram

    Heading for a pasta place

    Serving more than tasty Spam

I saw an Outward tram appear

    heading for the BBC

And looked forward to its appearance

    on its way to Piccadilly

The station announced – 6 Minutes

for the piccadilly tram – the norm

but the time it passed much quicker

and i felt all fuzzy and warm

But then – the clouds in distance

    appeared in patchwork grey

    as station board announced

    an abrupt delay

A coach was picking us up

As the tram was not yet seen

    Colours of Heritage Salford

    Gold and Olive Green

    And passengers all smiled

    and some they even cheered

as inspectors went looking for the missing tram

    its disappearance – weird

    I like the bus

    travelling from a to b

for the price of a latte

going up and down the road

    from town to town

taking in sights and the sounds

    length of the trip

    down to you

    depending on the fare

    Stopping off

at theatre, shopping mall, or country park

you just need to know where to get off

    And when you head home

its nice to know, the buses brother

    is there to take you

How has technology changed your job?

I volunteer at iwm north, in Manchester. This acrostic is about the tools I use to help visitors find out about the fallen family members who fell in the two world wars.

Lancashire Fusiliers Memorial, Off Oldfield Rd, Salford

searching through the mountain of names

    eternally remembered would be

a bit of a difficult task without

reaching out for the computer keyboard

chasing through the lost to find where

he or she is listed on a memorial

    he’s sat on the bridge

    admiring his teams work

    the big jobs amazed

    at the skilful craftsmanship

    and wondering where

or who to say thank you to

    children happy play

on the swings in the gardens

An Acrostic about Sports Fans – who’ll do anything to see their team play

    Seven days hiking

engaging with boats , buses and trams

all in an effort to see their team on foreign soil

some might not have foregone their creature comforts , but

if it was a breakfast they were after, or even

dinner, then a visit to the local cafe’s would do

expectation building – as the trek to the stadium begins

Silent Cargoes , Trafford Wharf, Manchester

    #canal #wharf #cargo #artwork

they sit on the wharf side

    out in all weathers

waiting in the cold and wet

    waiting for a ship

    Ships not arrived

so the men of the cranes

    have upped and made off

    for some corned beef stew

    while the barrels look on

at the scenes across the way

and the boxes sit by the water

    playing eye spy

    seagulls pass and say hello

    landing on the seed sacks

    for a secondary tea

    and getting a shock

a horn goes off with a toot

is that the liner arriving to boot ?

no, it’s the local tram passing on by

so the cargo, from wharf, keep looking at sky

    munches its breakfast

    Tins , cans and bottles

    cuttings and dinnerscraps

    taken by bin man

    Glass used for new jars

    Grass used for composting

    Plastics used in Paving

    And Food scraps sleep on

    turning to yummy compost

    for the next carrots
