Solid Ground

#garden #winter #autumn

A rush-on at the garden centre

saw people emptying shelves

of colourful flowering bulbs

to decorate borders

now while they didn’t look much

on the front of the bag

explosions of colour

were promised for spring

so around the front garden you went

and tried planting round sides of the lawn

but borders stayed solid out there in the frost

not a single bit of land were torn

And You went to the place in the house

picking out stacks of plastic pots

and covered the bulbs in compost

how many filled ? there were lots.

When winter is warming , christmas tree’s out of way

your little bulbs will start to play

in a spot out of pots, set out in a row

where hopefully the colour will begin to grow
