An early morning, one of spring

a return to the garden, the sunshine does bring

he’s hopped from his perch, where he’s napped in his nest

and landed on bird table, where the seeds are the best

sunflower seeds and kernels of corn

out in the sunshine that’s lovely and warm

and while others are kipping, he’ll enjoy a feast

away from the paws of a furry tailed beast

for there , down below, on the garden steps mat

watching away, the owners cat
