Silent Cargoes , Trafford Wharf, Manchester

#canal #wharf #cargo #artwork

they sit on the wharf side

out in all weathers

waiting in the cold and wet

waiting for a ship

Ships not arrived

so the men of the cranes

have upped and made off

for some corned beef stew

while the barrels look on

at the scenes across the way

and the boxes sit by the water

playing eye spy

seagulls pass and say hello

landing on the seed sacks

for a secondary tea

and getting a shock

a horn goes off with a toot

is that the liner arriving to boot ?

no, it’s the local tram passing on by

so the cargo, from wharf, keep looking at sky
