The builders and the moneymen

saw heaps of forest fall

building structures for humankind

rising up mighty and tall

And they built roads and bridges

to connect, say hello, and trade

ripping up every bit of grass

down to the last blade

till one day in a school class

as they chomped into a french fry

a little girl asked the teacher

where do the bluebirds fly ?

It got the teacher a thinking

as she showed the class a book

on animals living in the country

if they knew where to look

So the next week, with help from the staffroom

appeared ‘mongst the concrete – some green

with flowers and veggies and fruit trees

with the nicest colours they;d seen

And who came to visit the garden

landing on the green grass nearby

the returning bluebirds with the rest of their chums

landing by the pond saying hi!
