Daily writing prompt
Write about your first computer.

My first “Home” Computer

Power block like a block of Iron

and a Gizmo to use the home telly for a monitor

Programs sourced from electrical stores and magazines,

and occasionally a book or two

while those masters of machine code provided them on tape

read by its own tape recorder

took a while to tap the long games in

lucky souls got to play with disks

Not CD-Rom – that came later

as we chased spiders and snow-bees around the TV Screen

and caterpillars chomping away at pixel plants

  1. I also remember my VIC-20. It was my second home computer, as an upgrade from the TRS-80. Loading programs from a cassette tape is so long ago.

    1. The choice – It was the V2 (as commodore called it) or a cut down version of the BBC B – the electron – The Sinclair ZX series fell down because of its rubbery keys and necessity to stick 3 operations on one key for “Speed”
