Covering the pavement and road
there’s a dusting of frost
over nearly everything outside
it twinkles at night time
and colours come off it during the day
Clouds above threaten
the trees below
they’ll be covered in white stuff
but kitchen thermometers say
its too cold for snow
Days pass
and Mercury races
to the various bulbs
measuring the cold snap
but what’s this ?
the mercury is rising
