Signs that the elongated summer was at an end

Precipitation creating puddles beyond the double glazing

Landing quickly on the ground

And creating crowns in miniature reservoirs and ponds

Sitting in garden birdbaths, sparrows and skylarks roll about

Heading under cover as little humans make the water move
