Walking through the Inner City

you see all sorts of things

Colourful and sometimes wordy

some label them “Graffiti”

while others label them as “Worthless Tags”

but amongst the scrawls of aerosol ink

you do find the occasional shiny pearl

characters created by the frustrated artist

who if he (or she) had put them to canvas

would be having well to do’s discussing

the meaning of the character they created

while enjoying the canapes and wine

instead the value is created

in passers by – young or old

raising a smile – instead of a glass

at the characters as they go by

and if you walk down the subway

past this most illuminated of felines

you might hear the delighted call

of a most cherished puddy tat
