The one man tent went up easily enough

nestled by some tall willow bark trees

that provided adequate cover

when the raindrops fell

twigs started up the smallest

of campfires, just enough for a small

lunch parcel of soup and sarnies

in the pot – stew, boiling for teatime

craft activities passed time

creating things from rope and leaf

with a little help from pencil and paper

producing pictures from nature

Plans afoot

for a walk into the valley green

after a night under canvas

And as the sun began to dip

so did the bread,

as the pot-stew was divvied out

into everyone’s mug.
