“Man cannot live by bread alone; he must have peanut butter.” James A. Garfield

Now you might think it crazy

of these words that were said

about the stuff that goes

on your average slice of bread

But while slices of bread

provide energy

they have to give more

when served up for your tea

and while sandwiches normally contain cheeses and ham

little un’s prefer something sweet – like fruit jam

But thinking of teeth – Mum and dad’s start to utter

the suggestion of smooth or crunchy peanut butter

nice on toast in a break after school

and topped with bananas – the kids think it cool

not too much before the start of their tea

and delightfully scrummy – all do agree!
