Blackbird

An acrostic, written for UNESCOs World Poetry Day

Big feathers search for a place to call home

landing on a roof made of metal, wood, or brick

an apt place, out of the wind and rain, to build a nest

crafting materials, easily found – just head for the green spots

kith and kin may come and go

but at the end of the day

it’s still the place they hatched as an egg,

returning with their own – for a visit to gramma and grandads or

dad and mum, so they can see their chicks
