The Opposite of Light

#Socs

The sun hits the two halves

of the earth as it spins on its poles

the bit where the sun isn’t there

the experts call “Night” or “Dark”

which is a little bit odd

for in an age where 24 hour living

seems to be the norm

the darkness is lit up all across town

so you can party all night if there’s open bars around

and traffic and trams pass along by

passing the halogen lamps up in the sky

but mother nature would like it

for you to rest your head

on your nice fluffy pillow – on your bed

for if you’re going to be out on the town at play

you’ll find yourself napping through most of the day.
