Its Not Spring (Yet)

#Seasons #Character

Jack frost enjoyed his Christmas

and he enjoyed his New Year

but when told his season was coming to an end

there came a flood of tears

“NOT FAIR!” he wailed like a toddler

beginning to freeze puddles and panes

making it hard for pedestrians

and cats and dogs travelling down lanes

Indoors it all looks so pretty

with the patterns he’s painted about

on the roads, cars and pavements in the city

making some outdoors want to shout

Feathered friends have gone looking for thermals

as their favourite trees all stand bare

and little children watch from their windows

and at jacks patterns they all do stare

But there are some hardy birds in the Garden

and they’re raiding the feeders on the door

avoiding the frozen up birdbath

and hoping no bird seed lands on the floor
